Slough Borough Council is going to MIPIM – the most important leading property and development conference and market in the world.

MIPIM is being held in Cannes, France from 12 to 15 March and brings together influential international property players from the office, residential, retail, healthcare, sport, logistics and industrial sectors.

The council’s service lead for economic development, Shabnam Ali and the service lead for major projects and infrastructure, Savio DeCruz will be attending for the whole time with Councillor Mohammed Nazir, lead member for housing and corporate finance attending for part of the event.

And for the first time, Slough Borough Council will be having a stand in the London Pavilion to promote the borough to global investors and property professionals; all to support the creation of new homes, workspaces, schools, leisure and community facilities and all other aspects of growth the borough needs.

The council’s attendance, including associated costs is being funded through sponsorship of AEW Slough Central, U+I Future Works and Slough Urban Renewal.

Councillor Mohammed Nazir, lead member for housing and corporate finance, said: “Slough means business and MIPIM is the place where, internationally, the big players come together and major deals are begun.

“Slough has too much going on and too many investment and development opportunities for us not to take part in MIPIM.

“As a council, we rely on our amazing inward investment opportunities to help fund our ambitious plans including for our front line services and MIPIM is the place to be to ensure investment continues.

“Just this year alone, our partnership, Slough Urban Renewal, has brought in enough income - £4 million – for us not to need any cuts to frontline services. This is just one way Slough’s drive for regeneration and investment benefits every one of our residents; let alone in the jobs and other opportunities it brings.”

He added: “We have a vision of growing a place of opportunity and ambition for our residents, for our businesses, for our industries; we will be working hard to attract further inward investment at MIPIM, to bring that vision for Slough even closer to reality.”
