Milestone Residents are Encouraged to Get on Their Bikes

Community Benefits  |

Residents will receive two free Milestone Cycle Hire Slough membership cards giving them access to Cycle Hire Slough, the town’s answer to London’s Boris Bikes, which has nine docking stations across the town and others in the pipeline. Slough Urban Renewal has also partnered with Stows Cycles, Slough’s independent cycle shop, to give each household a £100 voucher towards the cost of a new bike.

The bike hire scheme enables local people to access the stations, parks and trading estate without the need for buses or taxis. Slough Borough Council has recently launched the £140k east-west project, a walking/cycling route to encourage more sustainable modes of travel and reduce congestion. Cycle Hub Slough, the borough’s first secure indoor bike storage facility, offers safe and secure bike storage at Slough station for just 50p per day. Protected by 24 hour CCTV coverage, the hub also has free wifi, lockers, toilets, changing areas and a bike repair workshop.

Leave the car at home and rediscover the joy of cycling

As well as being the first development to fund the Cycle Hire Slough membership cards, Milestone is also the first to create a Travel Welcome Pack, containing key travel information and informing residents of their travel options, which will be presented to them when they move in.

Over half of the 73 homes at Milestone are now sold. Comprising a mixture of one and two-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom houses, the development has complementary brick and pastel render creating a sense of calm and unity. Internal specification includes Symphony high gloss kitchens, white Ideal Standard sanitaryware with white gloss vanity units and Porcelanosa tiles.

Alastair Gourlay at Slough Urban Renewal said, “We are actively supporting the Council’s sustainability targets to encourage active, healthier lifestyles by encouraging our new residents to choose their bike over the car. This is the ideal opportunity for residents to leave the car keys at home and discover that cycling to work is easy, fun and quick!”

Councillor Sohail Munawar, Leader at Slough Borough Council, added: “Slough is a great place to cycle – it’s relatively flat and has an excellent network of cycle routes and pathways through some of our best parks. In particular, our east-west route helps to reduce congestion and enables people to enjoy the greener side of our borough.”

Prices at Milestone now start from £484,950 for a 3 bedroom home with study and integral garage, with electric vehicle charging point.
