Come and explore Slough’s new Activity Centre

Community Projects  |

Representatives from Slough Borough Council, Everyone Active and Slough Urban Renewal came together yesterday morning to cut the ribbon and welcome the first guests inside.

The opening will be followed by a fun-filled community day on Saturday (16June), where families are being encouraged to come and try the facilities for free. These include a six-lane ten-pin bowling alley, trampoline park, soft play, indoor high ropes and caving.

Caving, where a network of hidden tunnels can be explored, high ropes, which offer a 15-foot-high aerial trekking experience, and ten-pin bowling must be booked in advance by visiting www.everyoneactive.com/centre/salt-hill-activity-centre.

As well as free activities, visitors can enjoy an X-plorer trail challenge, tennis, craft activities, face painting, balloon modelling and much more. There will also be appearances from a number of popular children’s characters.

Sally Thomas-Ellis, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We are delighted to have opened the doors to Salt Hill Activity Centre. It is a brilliant facility that will provide entire families with fun days out. I would encourage everyone to come down to the open day on Saturday and explore the exciting activity opportunities on their doorstep.”

Salt Hill is the latest facility to be completed under Slough Borough Council’s £62million leisure strategy.

Councillor Rob Anderson, lead member for environment and leisure, said: “Yesterday we welcomed the first members of the public to our newest leisure facility. We are excited to be providing this unique activity centre, designed to bring families and friends together, to have fun while also being active.

“We are committed to making Slough one of the most active towns in the UK and what better way to start than by providing residents with top class leisure facilities. Our leisure strategy is simple: More people, more active, more often.”

These exciting leisure developments are being delivered by Slough Urban Renewal (SUR), a partnership between Slough Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments Ltd, which is driving regeneration across the town.

Andy Howell, SUR general manager, said: “This is a transformational project! The new activity centre is going to provide fun-filled days out for the whole community and we very much look forward to seeing the reaction of local people this Saturday; we think it is going to be a very popular venue in Slough and the wider area!”
